ROYAL NAVAL COVERS GROUP Newsletter No.95 August 2001. Dear Member, My pleasure as always to enclose another batch of covers for you, two past and two colour photo specials to add to your albums. They are of course very late as I send them on 26/9/01 with their invoices dated 31/8/01, The mid September batch will also be late as I am in the process of completing them. IFOS Portsmouth - Thanks to those of you who stopped by to say hello, always nice to put a face to your writing which I get so used to. We had a reasonable event but being charged over £350 for the event certainly took a huge chunk out of our takings, especially as this year due to no printer we did not feature a ship. SPECIAL OFFER TO RNCG MEMBERS - I have been in contact with the editor of the excellent Naval magazine WARSHIPS INTERNATIONAL FLEET REVIEW. They have offered exclusively to our members a copy of the renowned Submarine 1901-2001, which is a well produced publication on the Centenary of the Submarine Service. This is available FREE OF CHARGE to any of our members taking out a subscription of the magazine which is issued every other month. Have a look at the magazine it is very informative and there are some very nice photos printed as well. Please write to Mike Parris, HPC Publishing Drury Lane, St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN38 9BJ, or phone him on 01424 720477. PLEASE DO NOT WRITE TO ME ABOUT THIS OFFER!!! FIRST DAY COVERS - SADLY DUE TO A DISPUTE WITH OUR PRINTERS AND THE SUBSEQUENT CANCELLING OF OUR LONG ASSOCIATION WITH THEM (8 YEARS) THERE WILL BE A GAP IN THESE COVERS PRODUCED. I AM NOW IN DISCUSSIONS WITH OTHER LOCAL PRINTERS AND HOPE TO BE RETURNING WITH THE FLAGS SHEET ISSUE ON 22ND OCTOBER. I have been disturbed by their attitude and treatment recently as well as increasing prices so sadly I had to pull the plug. We have also of course missed a few Naval events that we would have done but things are now just about back on track. I hope this will not cause you too much disruption to your collections. This is of course a very important year with the Submarine Centenary and did not want to go to many months without any printers. There will be two more first day covers sent in mid August and then there will be a gap until mid November. I hope you all will continue to support these special issues. COVERS ISSUED IN MID AUGUST.
